How to Install Ubuntu 15.10 on VMware?

Ubuntu is a free open operating system which runs in all devices including smartphones, tablets. It’s one of the most popular OS which contains a wide range of software and apps. Install Ubuntu on VMware

Firstly you have to install Vmware, you can install it from here, that’s ok if you have installed before.

Now to start the installation process of Ubuntu, you need to download the ISO image from here.

To download ubuntu: Go to>Download>Ubuntu Desktop> Select 32-bit and click Download. After the download finished, so you’re ready to install let’s go.

#1. Open Vmware and click on File>New Virtual Machine(Ctrl+N) then select Typical(Recommended) click Next.

#2. Select installer disk image (iso) then click browse and choose the ubuntu iso image and click Next.

The system will automatically detect it.

#3. Now specify the OS by selecting the type and version and click Next.

#4. Name the virtual machine then select a location to install there and click Next.

#5. Now specify the disk capacity or let it by default then click Next.’

#6. The virtual machine is ready to use now, click customize if you want to change or add something then click Finish to start the virtual machine.

After the virtual machine started, wait about 20 minutes (Depends on your computer) to let ubuntu start.

#7. When the loading finished, enter a password and hit enter.

The password you enter will be created for all time.


And that’s it, all right you’re all done. The operating system has installed successfully and the keyboard shortcuts has appeared on the screen to make you use it easier.

How to Share Files and Folders in Windows Server 2016?

Sharing folders makes them accessible to network users and probably you need to do. After you’ve configured disks on the server, you must share files/disks to enable network users to access files and disks. When sharing files and folders also you can enable administrators and clients to access the files, folders offline even when the server is off.

Sharing files and managing permissions with advanced settings are one of important strategy an administrator must know. Share Files and Folders in Windows Server

Before start sharing files make sure that the advanced sharing settings is configured correctly from control panel with firewall settings then select the folder you want to share. Here we will share files with File and Storage Services, it’s already available in windows server by default.

1. Go to Server manager click File and Storage Services then click shares>tasks>New share to create a folder share on server.

2. Select a share profile for the folder you want to share then click Next.

SMB Share Quick: (SMB) is the standard file sharing used by all versions of Windows. SMB Share Quick provides basic SMB sharing with full share and NTFS permission.

SMB Share Advanced: Provides SMB sharing with full share and NTFS permission and access to services provided by File Server Resource Manager.

SMB Share Application: Provides SMB sharing with settings suitable for Hyper-V and other applications.

NFS Share Quick: (NFS) is the standard file sharing protocol used by most UNIX, Linux. NFS Share Quick provides NFS sharing with authentication permission and access to services provided by File Resource Manager.

NFS Share Advanced: Provides NFS Sharing with authentication and permission and access to services provided by File Resource Manager.

3. Now select the server and select a volume on the server or specify the folder path you want to share. To share a custom path, choose Type a custom path and browse the folder then click Next.

4. On the specify share name page, type a share name and click Next.

5. Here you have to select the sharing options you need, if you don’t know the definition read then mark them if required.

  • Select any or all of the following options:
    Enable Access-Based Enumeration: Prevents users from seeing files and folders
    they do not have permission to access.
  • Allow Caching Of Share: Enables offline users to access the contents of this share.
  • Enable BranchCache On The File Share: Enables BranchCache servers to cache
    files accessed from this share.
  • Encrypt Data Access: Causes the server to encrypt remote file access to this share.

6. Now Specify the permissions to control access read or write by clicking on Customize permissions then add, remove or change users permission and click Next.


7. Confirm that the shared settings are configured properly and click Create.


The share was created successfully with its appropriate permissions, click close.


To check the folder shared go to Network>your computer then your shared files will be there.

Also you can see them by typing \\yourcomputername\ in the file explorer.

1. Navigate to the folder then right click and select Properties, click on sharing tab then click Advanced sharing.


2. Mark on Share this folder and enter a share name then click on permissions to add, remove or change permissions of users and click ok.

When the folder sharing is configured properly, click Apply then ok. Your folder will be shared successfully.

Also, you can manage caching of the folder by clicking on caching and select the one you want. (Caching enables offline files for the users those who have enabled offline files. You can choose if the folder should be available offline or not.

How to Enable Offline Files Policy in Windows?

Offline file policy is a method of accessing network files offline when the network is unavailable. You can enable in windows to make available network files offline without VPN or cellular connections also sometimes you can suffer from no connection so the files will be disappeared, by enabling it keeps a cached copy of network files on your computer so you can access to the files faster or less bandwidth, to enable offline files policy in your computer just follow the steps.

You can enable offline files policy in windows server to let your clients access files from the cached copy of network files from their local computer anytime.

1. Start Run type gpedit.msc to open Group Policy Management Console, navigate to Computer configuration> Administrative Templates>Network then open Offline files.

2. Now navigate to Configure slow-link mode then open it then click enabled, scroll down in the options and click on show, type * in the value name then type latency=1 in the value.

Initial Configurations of Windows server 2016 step by step

After installing Windows Server 2016, you can start working but before that, there are some initial configuration to perform for making the server ready to work. These are the essential tips to do before start working with it. Here are the tasks to complete such as; renaming the server, setting the time zone, configuring the network connection, joining a domain, enabling remote desktop and some more. So let’s get started.

Perform Initial Configuration of Windows Server 2016 Graphically

 1. Rename server

Renaming the server is the first step of initial configuration. By default windows server has setup a unique name, to change it open Server Manager and click on local Server then click on your computer name. On the System, Properties click change and type a unique and short computer name then click ok. When you’ll be asked for restarting just hit Restart Now.

2. Join a Domain or Promote Server to a Domain Controller

Here you have two options to select, the first one is to join a domain or promote this server to a domain controller see the article from the link below(Install AD DS to create and manage domain services).

Note: Before joining to a domain or promoting to domain controller you must configure server’s TCP/IP settings from the instructions below.

To join a domain, open Run>Type Sysdm.cpl>click Change>Select Domain>Type the domain name and hit Ok like the shot. When you’ll be asked for authentication then type the username and password of the domain user and click ok. When the server joined to the domain click Restart now on the dialog box to sign in with the domain after restarting.

Notice: Before joining to a domain check the Domain controller and your computer if they are connected. If you got error like an error like connecting to domain service then check out the connection and ping them to check if they are connected then try joining the domain.

3. Turn on Automatic Updates

Keeping your server protected and updated is the most important. By turning on Automatic Updates on your server will be secure and latest, to configure open Settings>Update & Security and click on check for updates then when the update downloaded and installed.

On the Advanced options, choose Automatic update installing to let the Windows Server install updates when the server is not in use or you can set manually when to install updates.

4. Setup time zone settings

Accurate time zone is essential for Server and services to work on exact timing. To setup open Server Manager click on Local Server and click on Time Zone hyperlink then click on Change Time Zone, select the correct time zone and click Ok.

5. Configure TCP/IP settings

A Server needs static IP for installing AD DS or using other features so to do it open Server Manager click on Local Server and click on your computer’s network interface hyperlink(Ethernet).

On the Network Connections select the correct network adapter to configure by right click and choose Properties.


Now click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4), when the window opened select Use the following IP address and type a IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and Preferred DNS server.

6. Enable Remote Desktop

There are a two ways to enable Remote Desktop in windows server, no matter we will do it with Server Manager. The Remote Desktop feature is the core

To enable open Server Manager click on Local Server and click on Remote Desktop hyperlink, it will directly open up the System Properties remote tab, just click on Allow Remote Connections to this Computer and click ok.

Perform Initial Configuration of Windows Server 2016 with Command-line

1. Rename the Server

Type Y and hit enter to proceed. The server have renamed successfully.

2. Join a domain

Note: Before joining to a domain check the Domain controller and your computer if they are connected, also your computer should have taken IP with DHCP from the server correctly.

Type the username and password of the server user twice and hit enter to connect.

Now restart to apply all commands and joining to domain by typing;

3. Configure TCP/IP Properties

To configure IP address properties on a server or on any other computer follow the below commands.

To set IP address properties first identify your network adapters by typing:

netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces

Now to set a static IP address, subnet mask and default gateway type;

You can set Just IP address without subnet mask and default gateway.

To set up DNS server IP address type;

Note:index=1” refers to position of added DNS server.

How to Create Bootable USB in windows 10?

Read it carefully: Now disk 0 is 60 gigabytes(GB) so it’s my hard disk and disk 1 is14 gigabytes(GB) and this is my USB Flash drive. So you are going to bootable your USB Flash drive not the hard disk if you select the wrong disk so you will format your hard disk be careful.

Step 5. when the disks are listed select your USB Flash drive type select disk 1.Confirm your USB Flash drive has been selected or not, type list disk and see the stroke symbol in front, by the stroke symbol you can be sure that the selected drive is USB or hard disk.

Step 6. When the USB flash drive is selected type clean and hit enter.



Step 7. Type create partition primary to create a partition to your USB Flash drive.

Step 8. Now you must format your USB flash drive by typing format fs=ntfs quick command.

 format fs=ntfs quick


Step 9. when formatting was completed type active and enter to activate your USB flash drive and type exit and hit enter.

Now go to This PC and note that the USB flash drive has changed to bootable USB flash drive. Copy the windows files or image and the USB drive will be bootable successfully.It’s ready to use and you can boot it anywhere.
